Newcastle legend doesn’t expect Rafa Benitez to offer Liverpool any favours

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has told Premier League Today, as quoted by The Chronicle that Liverpool shouldn’t expect an easy ride from Rafa Benitez when they face each other next week.

The former Liverpool boss will plot a way to hand Manchester City the title when the Reds arrive at St James’ Park on Saturday week.

Benitez has already overseen a win over City this season and Shearer doesn’t believe the Spaniard will be in any mood to do Liverpool a favour when the two sides meet.

He told Premier League Today, quoted by The Chronicle: “I keep hearing people saying that Rafa Benitez will want Liverpool to win the league. Believe me, Rafa will not want to give Liverpool anything.”

The interesting issue surrounding the fixture is that it comes in between Liverpool’s two Champions League fixtures with Barcelona. It will be interesting to see how Jurgen Klopp keeps his players fresh to keep firing on all fronts.
