Newcastle United’s prospective new owners have been linked with five Barcelona players since reports claimed they were closing in on a takeover – but the latest story from Marca states only one player wants to leave the Spanish side.
The first to be linked with Newcastle, amid reports of a takeover, was French striker Antoine Griezmann – as per SportMediaset. But he is in his first season with Barcelona, and is likely to want to stay with Barcelona rather than move to Tyneside.
Since then, Philippe Coutinho (Mundo Deportivo), Arturo Vidal (Mundo Deportivo), Brazilian right-back Emerson (SPORT) and midfielder Carles Alena (Marca) have all been linked. Coutinho, Alena and Emerson have been on loan this season.
But only one of the aforementioned five players is actively looking to leave the club. Indeed, Marca have claimed that Vidal is looking to leave Barcelona – and has an asking price of just £17.5million. Inter Milan and Juventus are also keen.

TBR’s view – Vidal a real possibility, and he would be a top signing
Though the likes of Coutinho, Alena and Emerson are expected to leave, the fact Vidal wants to go is a big boost for those interested in landing the Chilean midfielder. Given that he has never played in the Premier League, Vidal may be tempted.
For a figure that is more than affordable, Newcastle would be exciting supporters by bringing in a player of such high calibre. For the potential new owners, he would be a top, top signing.
