Newcastle United cult hero Laurent Robert has tipped his son, Magpies-linked Thomas Robert, to play at the highest level, in conversation with Sky Sports.
According to Chronicle Live, Newcastle have been looking at the 19-year-old, who is currently being coached by his father at French club Montpellier.
The Tyneside outlet also claims the Magpies will be given the chance to sign Thomas, while Scottish duo Celtic and Rangers are also said to be keeping tabs on the winger.

The teenager’s contract at Montpellier expires at the end of the season and Laurent, who remains a fan favourite at St James’ Park, has talked up his son’s credentials.
“I know he has the quality to play at the highest level,” Robert told Sky Sports.
“He likes to practice every day and train hard. I’m sure he has the ability to be better than me. He has a great left foot, right foot and can head the ball – unlike me!
“I don’t just coach Thomas. I work for Montpellier and I coach the attackers at the club. I’m with Thomas twice a week. That’s the reason he has a good left foot!
“Every day we talk about English football and he said to me many years ago that he’d like to play in England.”
TBR View:
With Newcastle on the brink of a takeover which could well make them the wealthiest football club in the world, excitement is palpable on Tyneside with regards to how the club can be transformed.
It wouldn’t be realistic to think that the process of going from bottom-half Premier League side to title challengers can happen overnight, mind – most of the top players are either playing for or being linked with clubs already at that level, so it’s important to also look at talented youngsters.
With Thomas Robert being linked with some big clubs, his father being a Newcastle hero and the player being available on a free transfer, he’s certainly worth a look for the Magpies.
