The Magpies could face an uncertain summer, amid doubts over their manager’s future.

Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez looks set to become a wanted man during the summer.

The Magpies boss has not been happy with the lack of transfer activity during his tenure.

Benitez has stayed loyal to the Magpies, but it remains to be seen just how much longer he will do so.

Some news has emerged this morning that could worry Newcastle fans.

According to the Northern Echo, Leicester City could be about to offer Benitez a summer escape route out of St. James’ Park.

The report suggests that the Foxes have earmarked the Spaniard as the ideal replacement for the under-pressure Claude Puel.

If this news does come to fruition then Benitez should return to Newcastle to kick off his summer recruitment.

Leicester have looked somewhat dodgy at the back this season and pairing Jamaal Lascelles with Harry Maguire would represent a masterstroke.

The Magpies skipper looks destined for bigger things.

The 25-year-old hasn’t taken his England bow just yet but it would seem inevitable.

Playing alongside Maguire would enhance his England credentials no end, whilst it would see him line-up for a manager he has the utmost respect for.

Given Newcastle’s selling nature, you can bet that Benitez would be keen to test their resolve should he leave.

The Spanish boss would go to the King Power with a point to prove and to do that he would want to sign top players.

Lascelles is a quality player and will only get better.

Pairing him with Maguire would give the Foxes every chance of competing for a regular place in Europe.
