Newcastle United legend Chris Waddle wants his former club to emulate their bitterest rivals Sunderland by granting access to the cameras for a behind-the-scenes documentary, according to Sporting Bet.
The Black Cats have aired the first series of their ‘Sunderland Till I Die’ documentary and a second is being filmed now, during their time in League One.
And given the turmoil behind the scenes at St James’ Park, a similar series in black and white would be compelling viewing, according to Waddle.
He said: “I would love to see Newcastle do something similar to Sunderland’s documentary series. It would be great viewing and I know fans would love to get a closer insight to what happens behind doors at the club.”

But Sunderland didn’t come out of that documentary looking great on the whole; the shoddiness of their operations was laid bare and certain personalities did not come across well at all.
The discontent around Newcastle would likely be raised by a similar show, and they are generally geared towards showing those in the boardroom in as good a way as possible.
That’s because they’re the ones who commission the documentaries and are willing to give more access than players and managers are.
Newcastle don’t need to fan the flames of the issues around the club and Waddle’s suggestion would be good for the neutral but borderline ridiculous for the long-suffering fans.
