Newcastle United are pushing on to explore the possibility of signing Chelsea striker, Armando Broja, according to Sky Sports.

News of Newcastle’s interest in Broja is nothing brand new. Indeed, it was only a week or two ago that reports had claimed the Magpies were looking at the Albanian star as a potential alternative to Hugo Ekitike. However, news of a loan move being on the cards has been reported by Sky today, with Chelsea yet to make a decision on the striker.

It’s suggested that Thomas Tuchel will take a look at Broja over pre-season after the striker had an impressive season out on loan with Southampton last season. Despite tailing off towards the back end of the campaign, the 20-year-old still impressed those both at St Mary’s and Stamford Bridge.

Of course, Newcastle are not the only ones keeping an eye on Broja. It’s been reported over the last few months that Arsenal have compiled their own information on Broja. Of course, the Gunners have got a deal over the line for Gabriel Jesus, so their pursuit of Broja might well be parked for now.

For Newcastle, adding another attacker is seen as a key priority for Eddie Howe. Should Broja arrive on loan, it would free up further finances for another big-money signing.

Should Newcastle get a deal for Broja over the line then it could be a real game-changer for them. The Magpies have made good signings under Eddie Howe so far and Broja would only add to that.

A year’s experience in the Premier League will have done Broja the world of good and while he might fancy his chances with Chelsea, a move to a club on the up like Newcastle might serve him best.
