Newcastle United are looking into the prospect of signing Brighton and Hove Albion forward, Leandro Trossard, according to 90Min.
Trossard is enjoying a superb campaign with the Seagulls this season and recently scored a superb hat-trick at Anfield to cement his brilliant form. However, he has just over 18 months to run on his contract and 90Min claims that Dan Ashworth is well aware of the Belgian’s situation at the AMEX.
Brighton are thought to be keen on tying Trossard down to a new contract but he is thought to be of interest to a number of clubs, including Newcastle and Chelsea.

Trossard is expected to feature for Belgium in the World Cup this winter. He’s appeared 21 times for his country, scoring five goals in the process. Described as being a ‘decisive‘ player for Brighton by Danny Welbeck, Trossard is key for Roberto de Zerbi at the moment.
Newcastle are looking to keep building over the next few transfer windows. This summer saw them spend again as the likes of Sven Botman and Alex Isak arrived for big money. And with Ashworth overseeing things, the Magpies could well see more new faces arrive.
It’s claimed by 90Min that Ashworth sees Trossard being available for a cut-price fee given his contract situation.
TBR’s View: Trossard Perfect For Newcastle
Newcastle seem to be on the right track in terms of who they spend their money on. Ashworth has said the club can’t sustain mega-money buys and he’s probably right. But Trossard ticks plenty of boxes.
The forward is already experienced and proven at Premier League level and his versatility in being able to play across the entire attacking line makes him an attractive proposition.
Naturally, you’d expect Brighton to fight tooth and nail to keep their man. But with Newcastle building and Ashworth having the connections, this might be one that gathers pace.
