A number of Arsenal fans have called for Folarin Balogun to go out on loan, suggesting Newcastle United would be a good option.

The 20-year-old has been in sensational form for the Gunners Under-23s this season, and would surely shine for a team like the Magpies.

Newcastle are currently in the Premier League relegation zone and, although Callum Wilson is back from injury and scoring again, they could certainly do with some additional help.

Balogun, meanwhile, has registered eight goals and two assists from 10 Premier League 2 appearances this term.

On Friday, he grabbed a goal and an assist as the Gunners ran out 4-2 winners over Leeds at Elland Road.

Balogun is one of the most highly rated players to come through the Hale End ranks in recent years.

He penned a new long-term contract back in April after making his first-team debut and scoring his first goals at senior level last term.

Balogun has been compared to the likes of Newcastle legend Andy Cole in the past, as well as Thierry Henry and Daniel Sturridge.

Martin Keown told BT Sport – via the Daily Mail – after the Europa League win over Dundalk last December: “I am looking at him and thinking ‘remember the name’ really with the way he looked tonight.

“The way he linked up, that is a great turn. You try to compare, is it Andy Cole or Ian Wright?

“There is that sort of movement about him.

“I know those are big name players and if he can live up to that he will have some career.”
