Newcastle want Rafa Benitez’s contract sorted out within two weeks, according to the Newcastle Chronicle.
Talks were never going to move forward while the Magpies weren’t safe in the Premier League but Friday night’s win at Leicester looks to have secured their top flight status for another season.
And now it has, the report claims that they are hopeful the situation can be sorted within a fortnight as they have long since been aware of Benitez’s demands.
They do not reportedly include a higher salary or bumper war chest, but just more assurances that they can get his targets with a more streamlined and effective transfer strategy.

It hardly needs repeating but Newcastle would be foolish to let Benitez leave the club and his demands in order to keep him hardly seem unreasonable and would actually be beneficial to all connected.
He just needs to have a proper fighting chance of getting the players he wants and needs to take Newcastle to the next level and build on the goodwill he has stored up in the bank for all his exceptional work at St James’ Park.
It’s just a case of the club matching his demands and they should have absolutely no hesitation.
