Anthony Elanga is yet to score for Newcastle following a Β£55m move from Nottingham Forest back in July.
The Sweden international has just one assist to show for his efforts across ten appearances for the Magpies so far β but has still impressed with his direct approach to attacking.
Now β however β Eddie Howe has a new weapon he can use to potentially help Anthony Elanga become even more dangerous after Ross Wilson arrived from Nottingham Forest.
Ross Wilson could offer Eddie Howe the keys to unlock Anthony Elanga
Newcastle announced the appointment of the 41-year-old as their new Director of Football earlier today (Saturday 11th October).
Of course, Wilson will not be managing Elanga, but he was present at Nottingham Forest last season as Nuno Espirito Santo coached an impressive return of six goals and 11 assists out of the Swede in 38 Premier League appearances.
The man from Falkirk will work closely alongside Howe to discuss a range of footballing matters at Newcastle β conversations similar to the ones he would have had with Nuno at the City Ground.
Therefore, it is possible that Wilson has some information for Howe regarding how he can coax more out of Elanga β who has the tools to become a real threat on Tyneside with his electric speed and dribbling skills.
What Newcastle think Ross Wilson can do
TBR Football understand there is huge excitement over Wilson internally at Newcastle.
Graeme Bailey claims the Magpies feel the former Rangers man can help take the club to another level, having previously signed the likes of Virgil van Dijk while at Southampton, and masterminding the Scottish Premiership title win of 2020/21 working with Steven Gerrard at Ibrox.
It brings an element of calm to the Director of Football position β which Paul Mitchell did not last very long in while at Newcastle β and Howe will surely be delighted to finally have the vacancy filled.
