Newcastle have a young talent who will be a regular in the starting XI soon

Tino Livramento has struggled for action under Eddie Howe at Newcastle this season – and the club’s thoughts on the defender have now emerged.

It was Dean Jones who provided the information when speaking to Give Me Sport.

So, what do Newcastle think of Tino Livramento? Let’s take a look…

What Newcastle think of Livramento

Well, the Magpies spent £30m to sign the England U21 international from Chelsea back in August.

However, despite the size of that fee, Livramento has only made six starts in the Premier League, although Newcastle are said to still have total faith in the 21-year-old.

Jones told Give Me Sport: “I am a little bit surprised because Livramento has consistently proven himself worthy of a place in the team. When he came into the club, though, he knew he would have to be patient and wait for opportunities. He’s done that and taken the opportunities when they’ve come, but ultimately, there seems to be a bit of a hierarchy at the moment in Newcastle’s first team, and you’ve just got to accept your role within it and then step up when you get the opportunity.

“Newcastle won’t be considering Livramento’s long-term future a problem at all. They are completely all in on this situation. They like Livramento, and he will eventually become the starting full-back. It’s just a case of other transfers moving on and stepping into the next gear first.”

The Newcastle No.21 – who Alan Shearer has been impressed by – has made 24 appearances across all competitions so far this season, providing one assist.

Livramento is not far away from the starting XI

In our view, it is only a matter of time until Livramento becomes a regular starter under Howe, as Jones states will happen – mainly due to the fact he can operate on either side of the backline.

Dan Burn struggled in Newcastle’s 4-4 draw against Luton last time out, while Kieran Tripper delivered some very concerning performances around the New Year period.

Therefore, if Howe fails to see major improvement from either defender, Livramento is likely to be given a proper chance in the starting XI.
