Newcastle boss Eddie Howe reportedly wants three players he had at Bournemouth including star Nathan Ake – and Toon fans have responded.
Ake, 26, has struggled to break into Manchester City’s side of late. The Netherlands international joined City from Bournemouth in 2020.
It comes after Bournemouth had been relegated. He joined Manchester City for a fee of £40million, but has played just 20 times since then.
Numerous injury issues have not helped. But the ex-Chelsea man is now fit, and still struggling to break into Pep Guardiola’s side in recent weeks.
It is a far cry from the form he showed under Howe at Bournemouth – initially on loan in the first half of the 2016-17 season, then permanently.
He played 121 times under Howe. A brilliant signing for Bournemouth by Howe, so much so that Ake broke into the Netherlands side. He has 22 caps.

What are Newcastle fans saying about Manchester City ace Ake?
90Min say Howe is looking at three players he had at Bournemouth – Ake being one. The others include Jefferson Lerma and Lloyd Kelly.
The Toon need a centre-back. They have done since last summer, when numerous reports said Steve Bruce wanted a centre-back and a midfielder.
None surfaced. Now they have the cash, and are expected to spend in January. If a centre-back is to be signed, a left-footed one would be ideal.
Ciaran Clark is loyal, but not a Premier League-standard player. Newcastle fans are desperate for the club to sign Ake.
TransferMarkt claim he is represented by Wasserman, the same agency that looks after another of Eddie Howe’s ex-Bournemouth players – Ryan Fraser.
