Newcastle United host Burnley on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are desperate to see Jonjo Shelvey return to the side.
The central midfielder hasn’t played a single Premier League minute since the win over Chelsea and has been absent recently with a hamstring injury.
But the 28-year-old has been a key player when fit this campaign and has five goals in 17 games, which makes him the club’s top scorer.
The Chronicle reports that Shelvey has been back in training and that he “could” be in contention to make a comeback against Burnley.
Shelvey absence has certainly been felt in the Newcastle team, as they haven’t won in the league since he last played.
The midfielder is a playmaker that in possession has the vision and quality to create something going forward, which has clearly been missing in recent games.
He cost the Magpies £12million (BBC) back in 2016 and when he’s on form he makes that price tag look a bargain.
A selection of Newcastle supporters on social media have their fingers crossed that Shelvey will be fully fit again to come back into the XI against Burnley.
Manager Steve Bruce has preferred a midfield duo of Nabil Bentaleb and Sean Longstaff recently, but many want to see Shelvey back in the fold and teammate Isaac Hayden should be in contention too.
Here are some Newcastle fans on Shelvey:
