Newcastle United are now looking to make waves in the transfer market after completing the appointment of manager Steve Bruce – and Toon fans want him to sign Jarrod Bowen from Hull City.

Bruce finally took over at Newcastle after weeks of speculation following the sacking of Rafa Benitez, and he took control of his first match over in China – beating West Ham 1-0 in the Premier League Asia Trophy.

Newcastle need a new striker after Salomon Rondon moved to Rafa Benitez’s new side Dalian Yifang in China, while a replacement for Ayoze Perez must also be high on the agenda.

Central midfielders, wingers and a new left-back are also likely to be targeted, and some Newcastle fans have suggested Bruce should go after Bowen who played under the experienced Premier League manager at Hull.

Still only 22 years of age, Bowen took the Championship by storm last season. He found the back of the net 22 times in 46 Championship fixtures from the wing, but now he has less than 12 months left on his contract.

Hull have to sell this summer if they are to bring in some cash for his services, given that he can leave the club on a free transfer from January 1. Bowen never played for the senior side under Bruce, but was on the fringes of doing so.

The Sun claimed earlier this summer that Arsenal wanted to spend £12million to land Bowen, but Newcastle fans are hoping Bruce can beat the Gunners to it and land the Hull ace.
