Newcastle produced probably their worst performance of the season so far, with a shambolic second-half display allowing Leicester to run riot – and Toon fans have applauded Youri Tielemans.
A brace from Belgium international Tielemans saw Leicester completely blow Newcastle aside, while James Maddison and Patson Daka also got their names on the score sheet in the 4-0 win.
It was easily Newcastle’s worst performance under Eddie Howe, and arguably their worst all season. But ex-Monaco and Anderlecht star Tielemans certainly played his part, shining in the middle of the park.
According to WhoScored, Tielemans clocked up 50 successful passes from an attempted 55. But defensively, the £40million (Mail) signing was just as good – clocking up more tackles than any of his teammates.
He was more involved than any of his other Leicester teammates with 72 touches, alongside Caglar Soyuncu. A simply brilliant performance – he was as good for the Foxes, as Newcastle were poor.

What are Newcastle fans saying about Leicester star Tielemans?
Newcastle obviously need a number eight. They have Jonjo Shelvey at the base of their midfield, and they have Joe Willock as a potential no.10. Isaac Hayden and Jeff Hendrick are good cover.
But the Toon lack proper quality, they need a number eight. A box-to-box midfielder that can supply quality at both ends of the pitch – with seven goal involvements now in 12 league games. Newcastle fans have applauded him.
