Newcastle and Wolves shared the spoils at St James’ Park yesterday, coming away with a 1-1 draw despite a late red card for Sean Longstaff.
Jamaal Lascelles opened the scoring for the hosts, who led at half time, before Jonny levelled the match in the second half.
Many Magpies fans on Twitter felt that their side sat back far too much in defence of their lead and looked exhausted by the time the full time whistle blew.
They blamed manager Steve Bruce’s late changes for that; Joelinton was only replaced by Jonjo Shelvey on 84 minutes, after Longstaff’s red card, before a double change was made just as stoppage time began.

The supporters perceived that as a sign of Bruce’s indecisiveness and inability to change the course of a match in which Newcastle were clearly struggling for a foothold.
Sitting back on a one-goal lead is never going to go down well with home fans, and even less so when it proves unsuccessful, creates the pressure which sees a player sent off and a situation where there only looks like being one winner by the time full time rolls around.
That’s why some fans were very unhappy with Bruce for his inactivity…
