Newcastle fans single out Karl Darlow and Joelinton for praise following Tottenham draw
Newcastle United fans praised goalkeeper Karl Darlow and striker Joelinton for their performances against Tottenham Hotspur, after their club somehow scraped a 1-1 draw in north London.
The spoils were shared at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, after a last-gasp penalty was awarded for the visitors for handball against Eric Dier, which was converted by Callum Wilson.

Lucas Moura had opened the score in the first-half after good work from Harry Kane to make space and cross low to the back post.
Newcastle were very poor on the day and hardly threatened Hugo Lloris in the Spurs goal. In fact, they didn’t have a single shot on target before the injury-time penalty, which came about with VAR instructing the referee Peter Bankes to look at the pitchside monitor.
Spurs were better all over the park, and should have won by four or five if not for Darlow, who is currently replacing Martin Dubravka, who is nursing a heel injury.
Darlow was magnificent for Newcastle, denying Harry Kane on several occasions to keep his side in the game.

Brazilian forward Joelinton was perhaps the only outfield player who could hold his head high.
The South American tried to make things happen and showed the desire that a lot of his teammates seemingly lacked.
Newcastle fans on social media made sure their praise for Darlow and Joelinton was heard:
If it wasn’t for Darlow and the kind side of the woodwork this could have been 6 or 7 at HT. Players just seem to be walking around the pitch, no urgency or closing people down. When we get the ball we have no quality. Wilson up front hasn’t got a hope man. Shambles. #NUFC

#NUFC dire. Bar Darlow, not one player is putting in anywhere near a worthy performance. There’s hardly a team there at all.

Knowing Bruce he will take Joey off for Carroll despite him being out best player (aside from Darlow) so far 🤦🏻 #NUFC

There’s only two NUFC players who can come away with any sort of credit from this – Karl Darlow (obviously) and Joelinton.
The latter has been the only outfield player to show any sort of spark in attack here. Looks a little bit more confident. #NUFC
