Newcastle fans shower Miguel Almiron with praise after Morecambe performance

Newcastle United fans have been expressing their excitement over the performance of Miguel Almiron, who starred during the Magpies’ 7-0 hammering of Morecambe in the EFL Cup.

The result is Newcastle’s biggest ever competitive away victory, and came hot on the heels of a terrible performance and result against Brighton in the Premier League.

Newcastle bounced back from the 3-0 horror show against the Seagulls in some fashion, putting their League Two opposition to the sword at the Globe Arena.

Joelinton scored two, and Jacob Murphy, Isaac Hayden, DeAndre Yedlin, Matt Ritchie and Almiron all got on the scoresheet for the visitors, with an own goal making it seven in injury time.

Almiron was particularly lively for the Magpies.

The £42,000-a-week star (Spotrac) hasn’t been starting in the Premier League, with Steve Bruce preferring to field Hayden and Jonjo Shelvey as a pairing with Andy Carroll and Callum Wilson in attack.

The Paraguay international – who now has a goal and three assists in 2020/21 in all competitions – certainly gave Bruce something to think about ahead of the upcoming Tottenham Hotspur game.
