Elias Sorensen has posted a message on Twitter – and some Newcastle United fans have responded by predicting that he could be in first-team contention for next season.
The Danish striker has just enjoyed a brilliant campaign with the Under-23s side, where he proved that he can be clinical in front of goal in the Premier League 2 division.
He also scored four goals in just five games during his team’s run in the EFL Trophy, before they were knocked out in the last-16 by eventual runners-up Sunderland.
Sorensen, 19, was given a brief loan spell at League One club Blackpool in the second half of the season, but was recalled after a couple of months after barely getting an opportunity to play.
The Denmark Under-21 international is one of the exciting talents coming through the ranks at St James’ Park and Sean Longstaff showed this season that the step up to the senior squad is possible.
He is still waiting for his first-team debut for Newcastle, but is making a real impression at youth level.

“What a season it’s been, see you all next season,” Sorensen posted on his official Twitter account.
Some of the club’s supporters responded to his message with some words of encouragement
