Newcastle United reportedly hold an interest in centre-forward Jan Carlos Hurtado from the Argentinian top-flight – and some of the club’s supporters have offered a split response to the speculation.
According to La Provincia, the Magpies are interested in the 19-year-old from the Argentinian league.
He currently plays for a team called Gimanasia y Esgrima and has played regular first-team minutes this season.
The report details that Italian outfit Atalanta are keen on the striker and have travelled for discussions with him.
It is understood that Newcastle plan to swoop too with a “concrete offer” after speaking with representatives.

Hurtado already has one full senior cap for Venezuela at international level and is an exciting prospect.
His international teammate Salomon Rondon has thrived on loan at St James’ Park this campaign and Newcastle could end up having another South American player in their ranks.
Hurtado does have just two goals in 17 domestic games this season in Argentina, but is one for the future and the teenager is being tipped with a move to European football.
Rafael Benitez’s team have had relative success with Miguel Almiron since he joined from the MLS in January despite his search for a first goal and perhaps it will tempt the club to continue searching further afield.
Here are some Newcastle fans responding to the Hurtado speculation, with some mixed opinions:
