Fulham’s relegation from the Premier League was a done deal for a number of months but it was only confirmed last night by the Cottagers’ 4-1 defeat at the hands of Watford.
Yet another failure to win on the road meant that the Cottagers fate was sealed and they will join Huddersfield in the Championship next season.
It’s been an abject campaign in terms of recruitment, managerial selections, style of football and treatment of fans and Fulham cannot argue that relegation was not merited.
It may help them reset the club; getting back to a defined style of football, with a manager who is given time and a squad who are familiar with each other and committed to the cause.

But that is of no concern to Newcastle supporters who rediscovered the tweet that Fulham’s official account put out in August 2016, when the Cottagers beat them 1-0 at Craven Cottage on the opening weekend of the 2016/17, when both sides were in the second tier.
Now, the tables have turned and Newcastle look set to be a Premier League side for a third straight season, while Fulham have sunk without a trace this term.
Newcastle fans don’t forget, and poked fun at the historic tweet in the wake of Fulham’s relegation and we’ve put together some of the best reaction…
