Newcastle fans react to their opening Premier League fixture against West Ham
Newcastle United will begin the 2020/21 Premier League season with a trip to West Ham – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have responded with delight.
Newcastle start the new campaign on 12 September with a trip to the London Stadium against the Hammers and had a good record against them last season.
They managed a 2-2 draw back in July at St James’ Park, plus they recorded a 3-2 victory all the way back in November 2019 against them on their trip to the capital.
Newcastle have also recorded three wins in away league fixtures against West Ham since 2014 to give them encouragement going into the new season.
Newcastle manager Steve Bruce guided his side to a 13th-placed finish in the Premier League last season and they ended up 10 points above the relegation zone.
Despite the disappointment of a takeover collapse at St James’ Park, the Magpies go into the new season with some talented individuals such as Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin.
It is the club’s fourth consecutive campaign in the top-flight since a return from the Championship and again expectations don’t seem too high, but there is still plenty of time available in the summer transfer window.

I’ll take it good to not start against a top 6 side

West Ham away first game of the season.
We usually get the 3 points there so hopefully we can do it again #NUFC

#NUFC starting and ending the season in the capital. Happy with that. West Ham away and Fulham away 🙂 that’ll do.

West Ham away and Brighton at home first up is a massive opportunity, need to get at least one win there. Late April/May will be very tough, hopefully we’re not in danger at that point…#nufc https://t.co/hNMn5uyGFX
