Newcastle fans react to Salomon Rondon’s Twitter post

It’s safe to say, many Newcastle United supporters still miss Salomon Rondon.

The Venezuela international left the Magpies in the summer following the end of his loan spell at St. James’ Park, but did not return on a permanent deal.

There was plenty of clamour for that to happen from supporters, and Rondon himself has admitted he wanted the move.

But a move was not sanctioned by owner Mike Ashley, who was reportedly intent on getting someone younger in.

He did exactly that, spending £40 million to sign 22-year-old Brazilian striker Joelinton from Hoffenheim (BBC Sport).

Meanwhile, Rondon then finalised a move to the Chinese Super League to reunite with Rafa Benitez at Dalian Yifang.

The 30-year-old took to Twitter on Thursday to post about the fact that it’s been 14 years since he left Aragua – the team he started his professional career at – back in his native Venezuela.

Rondon’s post was accompanied by a graphic showing the striker holding a portrait of him wearing the jerseys of all his former clubs, with Newcastle front and centre.

Newcastle fans react

Rondon’s post served only to remind Newcastle supporters how much they like him last season, with many wishing he was still around:
