Newcastle fans react to Rolando Aarons omission from Premier League squad

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has named his 25-man squad for the upcoming Premier League season – and some of the club’s supporters are gutted that Rolando Aarons has been omitted.

The Magpies have confirmed (official website) their squad for the league campaign, which includes new signings Joelinton, Allan Saint-Maximin, Andy Carroll, Jetro Willems and Emil Krafth.

Midfielder Matty Longstaff has been given the number 43 despite not being listed in the 25-man squad, but can be play because he’s under the age of 21.

Bruce has had to make cuts to his squad, with Aarons and Jack Colback two senior players to stand out for their absences.

Aarons has been involved in pre-season, but won’t be involved in league games at St James’ Park this campaign and his future looks uncertain.

The 23-year-old winger won’t be able to find a move to a Premier League or Championship club now the window is shut, but teams from League One, League Two, Scotland and other European leagues could potentially still sign him.

He’s a versatile wide player that could have potentially slotted into a wing-back position, but Bruce has ultimately omitted him.

A selection of Newcastle supporters on social media have vented their frustration that Aarons is not involved and feel he deserved a spot.

One supporter claimed they were “gutted” with his omission and felt he may have forced his way into contention.

He had two separate loan spells away from the North-East last campaign and that may need to happen again if he wants regular game time.
