Newcastle United are reportedly one of five Premier League clubs considering a move to sign Hertha Berlin striker Davie Selke before Friday’s 11pm deadline – and Toon fans have reacted to the news on Twitter.
German newspaper Bild claim Newcastle, as well as Aston Villa, Watford, Bournemouth and Brighton want to sign 25-year-old Selke. The 6ft 4in target man is open to a move this month, given Krzysztof Piatek is set to join the club for £23million.
Selke has scored just 19 goals in his 84 outings at Hertha Berlin but his aerial prowess makes him just as creative as he is prolific. Indeed, the Germany Under-21 cap has also created 15 goals – with his height bringing others in to play around him.

It is believed Selke, who has also played for RedBull Leipzig and Werder Bremen throughout his career, is keen on getting regular game time elsewhere in order to strengthen his chances of achieving a place in the Tokyo Olympics squad this summer.
Newcastle do have options up front. However, Joelinton is struggling to find his form with just two goals since his £40million from Hoffenheim, while Andy Carroll is yet to score since his return. Dwight Gayle is being linked with Nottingham Forest.
Newcastle fans have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that they are one of five Premier League sides keen on landing the German star – and many Toon supporters have urged their club to look elsewhere.
