Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Strasbourg midfielder Ibrahima Sissoko – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are not completely won over by the speculation.
The Sun reports that Steve Bruce’s side want to add the powerhouse enforcer to the squad in the January transfer window.
The report explains that the Magpies are “close” to wrapping up a £13million deal, with personal talks then expected to be held and it’s believed they should run smoothly.
Sissoko has been an ever-present in the Strasbourg team this season and the 6ft 4in ace is a physical individual.
The central midfielder has shown in Ligue 1 that he’s a powerful runner that is strong in possession and would add some extra steel at St James’ Park.

A selection of Newcastle supporters on social media are not buying into the reports around Sissoko and feel that he’s a January target that shouldn’t be a priority.
He would arrive to battle alongside the likes of Isaac Hayden and Jonjo Shelvey in the midfield, as well as key brothers Sean and Matty Longtaff.
But there is a real desperation from supporters to see improvements made in the final third of the pitch and it’s a fair assessment given the lack of goals in the team.
The Magpies have only six goals in the opening 10 Premier League games this season, with bottom of the table Watford the only team to score fewer (five).
