Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce is reportedly interested in Lyon forward Moussa Dembele – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have responded to claim there is little chance they could tempt him into a move to St James’ Park.
According to the Daily Star, Bruce is set to hold talks with owner Mike Ashley and wants to urge him to splash some money in the transfer window.
It is understood that the Magpies boss wants the club to try sign Dembele from French top-flight club Lyon.
The Daily Star previously reported that Manchester United are interested in trying to sign the 23-year-old in January and believe a £50million deal could work.
Dembele certainly looks out of Newcastle’s reach on paper, but the club did pay £40million (BBC) in the summer to land Joelinton.
A selection of Newcastle supporters on social media believe it’s unreasonable to think they will be able to sign high-profile strike Dembele.
The centre-forward has 13 goals in 27 games for Lyon this season cross all competitions and has been playing Champions League football.
He is a French attacker with a growing reputation across Europe and it will be no surprise to see him move to an elite club next.
Here are some Newcastle fans on the Dembele speculation:

Steve can “mention” Messi and Mbappe whilst he is at it…🤪 ridiculous to think we could sign him or he would want to join us.
