Miguel Almiron completed his first 90 minutes for Newcastle United since his January switch to St James’ Park, but ended up tasting defeat away to West Ham in the Premier League.
The Magpies were beaten 2-0 at the London Stadium and saw their good recent form halted by the Hammers.
West Ham’s Declan Rice got the hosts on the front foot early on with a header, while their captain Mark Noble added a penalty before half-time.
Rafael Benitez’s team were unable to make the most of their chances in front of goal, but are still six points above the bottom three in the league table.

A selection of Newcastle fans on Twitter were keen to discuss Almiron after his performance and there was a mix of opinion.
The 25-year-old attacker has shown some exciting signs during his first three appearances for the club, but in his fourth outing against West Ham he couldn’t quite make an impact.
He is a speed machine that rarely threatened in behind due to Newcastle’s ridged attacks and some feel he would be more suited to a central role.
The left-footed ace is still waiting to fully announce himself on English football and will learn a lot from his first loss in a Newcastle kit.
Here are some of the Newcastle fans reacting to Almiron’s contribution:
