Newcastle fans react to Miguel Almiron’s performance in loss against Aston Villa

It was another poor performance from Newcastle at Villa Park against Aston Villa last night as Steve Bruce’s side slipped to a 2-0 defeat.

The Magpies lacked cohesion and intensity throughout the Monday night match, with Miguel Almiron arguably the poorest performer in an underwhelming attack.

Almiron is still without a goal or assist for Newcastle, which is a woeful record for someone who was brought in at great expense in January to bear the creative burden.

Instead, he is proving to be an industrious but wasteful wideman and the supporters on Twitter were not at all impressed by his display in the West Midlands last night.

Almiron perhaps been shielded from more criticism in recent weeks because he unflinchingly works hard in a side which has lacked heart and desire in recent years.

But the fact remains that the quality of his output on the ball is severely lacking and he bore the brunt of the fans’ annoyance after a toothless display.

Plenty of supporters want the £42,000-a-week (Spotrac) man dropped – and that might well be for his own good given the pressure he is under.
