Newcastle fans react to Miguel Almiron goal for Paraguay

Miguel Almiron helped his nation Paraguay record a 1-0 win over Bulgaria on Thursday – and some Newcastle United fans on Twitter were delighted with their player.

The Magpies attacker scored the only game of the contest for the South American outfit and a goal should boost his confidence.

He picked up the ball on the edge of the box and his low driven shot was fired into the bottom corner to pick up a victory in a friendly fixture.

Almiron has played 22 Newcastle games without a single goal or assist since his move to St James’ Park in January, but the supporters are right behind him to succeed.

The 25-year-old right-winger has express pace and can be devastating on the counter attack, but end product continues to be an issue for him at club level.

Magpies Steve Bruce has stuck with him in the XI this campaign, where he forms a forward line alongside Allan Saint-Maximin and Joelinton.

Almiron showed in midweek for Paraguay that he does know where the net is and he could become a much better player for Newcastle once he gets his first under his belt.

His next club game is away at Aston Villa on 25 November and he will be hoping that is the time to end his duck.
