Newcastle fans react to Joelinton’s performance in 1-1 home draw against Newcastle

Newcastle took the lead in the first half against Wolves yesterday but were unable to keep hold of it as Jonny netted an equaliser.

By full time, the Magpies had been reduced to ten men after Sean Longstaff was dismissed and the visitors were the only team who looked like winning.

The hosts ceded all the momentum which was built up in the first half, when Jamaal Lascelles opened the scoring with a bullet header.

Defender Lascelles had to take on the goalscoring onus because Newcastle have been shot-shy this season and record signing Joelinton has struggled badly.

The supporters were not impressed with the Brazilian’s contribution, believing he should have been subbed off sooner, and patience seems to be wearing thin.

There was some acknowledgment it is not the easiest situation for him to be in but also a feeling he has to do more off the ball – like Salomon Rondon did last season – to try and make things happen.

With Dwight Gayle back from injury now, the pressure is likely building on Joelinton to produce the goods, because the Englishman certainly knows where the back of the net is.
