Newcastle United have confirmed an injury update to their goalkeeper Martin Dubravka – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are gutted by the news.
The Magpies confirmed on their official website that the shot-stopper is facing a spell on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury last weekend in the Premier League victory over Southampton.
After an assessment on his injury on Monday, he has been ruled out of action for at least the rest of March.
The 31-year-old is the colossus number one option in net for Newcastle and his absence moving forward will be a serious blow, but could open the door for teammate Karl Darlow to shine.
Dubravka has been one of the most consistent goalkeepers in English football since he arrived at St James’ Park and Steve Bruce’s side need a solid backline to help balance out the weaker attack.
The Slovakia international has kept nine clean sheets in 30 games across all competitions this campaign and there is no doubt he’s one of the key reasons why his team sit eight points above the relegation zone in the league table.

A selection of Newcastle supporters on social media are disappointed by the Dubravka news and are particularly concerned that he will miss the FA Cup quarter-final fixture at home to Manchester City later in March.
