Allan Saint-Maximin was a bright spark for Newcastle United in the 1-0 loss against Chelsea.
Newcastle were beaten by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge after Marcos Alonso scored the only goal of the match. But Saint-Maximin excited the travelling fans with his latest performance.
The Frenchman joined Newcastle from Nice in the summer. So far, he has played five times, picked up a couple of injuries and is yet to score or pick up an assist. But the early signs are promising.
Saint-Maximin is a maverick talent, offering unpredictability, pace, skill and a willingness to take defenders on. This is quite refreshing in a Newcastle team that has often lacked flair in recent years.
The 22-year-old was unable to break down the Chelsea defence but he has shown that he could be a key player this season. Once he gets up and running, Saint-Maximin is the type of player who could take Newcastle up the league table.
Newcastle fans flocked to Twitter after the game to talk about their lively winger. Here are some tweets about Saint-Maximin’s display in West London.
Watching out for this guy!
