Newcastle fans react on Twitter to Joelinton display vs Brentford

A number of Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Joelinton after his performance in their Premier League clash with Brentford on Saturday.

The Eddie Howe era has begun with a six-goal thriller at St James’ Park. Unfortunately, Howe himself was unable to attend the game.

Interestingly, the new Newcastle boss claimed ahead of the contest that the Brazilian has the potential to be a ‘huge player’ for the Magpies.

Obviously, he has not had the best time on Tyneside. He went into the fixture with the Bees having scored one goal every 10 games in all competitions.

But perhaps there is early proof that Howe may be onto something by tipping the 25-year-old for big things this week.

It was Joelinton – who earns around £87,000-a-week – who scored Newcastle’s second goal in the 3-3 draw, finding the bottom corner from around 12 yards out. His delight was clear for all to see.

He did not make the most of a late chance. But that has not stopped a number of Newcastle fans expressing their hope that Howe’s appointment could be a turning point in the forward’s career.

Only Allan Saint-Maximin completed more dribbles than Joelinton. Meanwhile, he also won six aerial duels. Once again, only one player – this time, Jamaal Lascelles – managed to better his tally.
