Peter Ramage has urged Wilfried Zaha to ignore a move from Crystal Palace to Newcastle United this summer even if he receives big-money offer from the Toon’s potential new owners – and Newcastle supporters have reacted.
Newcastle are reportedly edging closer to a potential takeover though the Premier League are taking their time in making a decision over the potentially incoming new owners. It remains to be seen if a deal will be agreed, though it is at a latter stage.
A number of high-profile players have been linked amid reports that Newcastle could have huge amounts of money to spend. Zaha, 28, is the latest to be linked with a move to Tyneside, though the Guardian said Palace wanted £100million last summer.
Ramage, who played for both Palace and Newcastle, has urged Zaha to ignore a move to Newcastle if the Toon’s soon-to-be owners come calling – as it would be a financially-backed move rather than one to further Zaha’s career.
“Newcastle wouldn’t be a good move for him. It would obviously be more the financial aspect rather than anything else if he was to come to Newcastle, and we are just talking hypothetically here,” Ramage said, as per the Back of the Net podcast.
Newcastle are expected to be in the market for a winger. Juventus ace Douglas Costa, Chelsea freebie Willian and Liverpool’s Xherdan Shaqiri and many, many more have been linked with the north east club, if a takeover occurs.
Newcastle supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that Ramage has urged Zaha to ignore a move to Newcastle, and many are relieved as they did not want him anyway. Some, though, believe he would be a “good signing”.

There’s a reason he never made it at Man U 👍🏽 … however he is a very talented player.

Zaha needs a win now team! He'd be a great signing for newcastle (let's not embarrass ourselves and claim he wouldn't be our best player by a mile) but he near 28 , needs and deserves a champions league club

Tbf, there reason he's been warned against it is because he's closer to the end of his career than the start, and Newcastle won't be winning trophies straight away.
Also that a move to Toon would be purely financial. We don't want another Owen.
