Newcastle United have reportedly agreed a transfer fee with Championship side Norwich City for Jamal Lewis – and some of the club’s supporters are extremely pleased with the update.

Sky Sports claims that Newcastle have seen an offer of £13.5million accepted for the defender, who was previously wanted by Liverpool in this window.

The report explains that Steve Bruce’s side were quoted £18million for the left-back earlier this summer, but they’ve now managed to negotiate to a much cheaper sum.

With Newcastle loanee Danny Rose exiting St James’ Park at the end of the season to return to Tottenham, the Toon have been on the lookout to find a replacement full-back.

Lewis couldn’t help keep Norwich in the Premier League last season as they were relegated from the top-flight, but he was one individual that managed to standout and it looks like he could make a swift return to the top division.

The 22-year-old Northern Ireland international is a full-back that excellent pace and energy out wide, but still has plenty of potential to improve the defensive side of his game.
