Newcastle fans react as they are linked with defender Jetro Willems
Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt defender Jetro Willems on loan – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have responded by claiming they would love to sign him this month.
The Shields Gazette reports that the Magpies have explored a potential swoop for the 26-year-old during the January transfer window.
It is understood that the full-back is keen to return on returning to St James’ Park, after previously spending time on Tyneside during a loan in the 2019/20 campaign.
The report explains that Steve Bruce’s men may have to fight off competition from two Premier League clubs though for his signature.
German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt are reportedly prepared to loan out Willems for the rest of the season. His contract with them expires at the end of the season, which suggests his career with them may be drawing to a close.

A selection of Newcastle supporters on social media have responded to the Willems speculation by insisting the club try secure a loan deal for him.
His loan spell with the Magpies was proving successful before an injury cut it short. He did though prove as an attack-minded left-back that he added something extra to the Magpies team during his 20 appearances for them.
Here are some Newcastle fans discussing Willems:

just realised he's only 26.
he had half a season in the prem and had most right flank players in his pocket. he was one of. our best players and still has another 6-8 years till he's past his bestno brainer transfer https://t.co/JSuwgugSSu

Please @JetroWillems_15 I beg you come home

Absolute no brainer – him and ASM down the left side will give us a bit of familiarity that has been horrendously lacking this season (assuming both get match fit!)

Would be good to see him and Maxi on the left flank again, but its obvious that our midfield is where we need to strengthen if we are going to survive. Oh and a better manager…

It’s a complete no brainer to bring him back like
