The Times report that Jesse Lingard is reportedly set to leave Manchester United on a free transfer after talks – and Newcastle fans have responded.
Lingard, 28, perhaps surprisingly rejoined Manchester United from West Ham in the summer after a hugely successful loan spell in the Capital.
The England ace had a hand in 14 goals for West Ham in 16 games. Scoring nine, he laid on five assists and was nearly part of England’s Euro 2020 side.
But returning to United in the summer, he has been on the fringes under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He was being linked with a £25million move.
However, the Times state that he will leave at the end of his contract having spoken to Solskjaer regarding his future. It means he will go for nothing.
ESPN report that Newcastle are keen on signing Lingard. They face competition from all over Europe, with Lingard now available on a free.

What are Newcastle fans saying about Lingard amid reports?
The Toon are expected to make big-name signings in the next couple of years, wielding their incredible spending power to improve the squad.
But with Eddie Howe’s newly-inherited side ultimately fighting a relegation battle – Newcastle may have to bring in a few players on loan initially.
Signing Lingard on loan in January, and then making it a permanent on a free in the summer would be a masterstroke in terms of transfer business.
Newcastle fans have urged their club to get busy, and take advantage of Lingard’s lack of game time by luring him to the north east in January.
