Matt Ritchie is reportedly facing the exit door at Newcastle United with manager Rafa Benitez keen to offload the versatile ace – and Newcastle fans have reacted on Twitter.
The Mirror claim Newcastle are looking to offload the 29-year-old despite remaining a key figure of Benitez’s side. The report states that the Toon want to recoup the £10million they spent to sign him in the summer of 2016.
Since joining the club, Ritchie has clocked up 118 appearances for the Tyneside outfit. He scored 16 goals and created 10 more in their promotion season from the Championship.

He has proved to be one of the first names on the team sheet since Newcastle returned to the top flight. He scored the winner against Manchester United last season, and most recently scored a volley against former side Bournemouth.
The report is somewhat surprising, then, given that Ritchie remains one of the most consistent players in Newcastle’s side. He has played out wide, in the 10 role and even at left-back since joining the club.
Newcastle fans have reacted on Twitter after hearing of the news that the Toon may look to sell Ritchie, and fans are not happy. Many believe there are other players that should be sold, or that Ritchie is worth more than £10million.
