A number of Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from the Daily Mail this week suggesting that the Magpies want Everton defender Lewis Gibson.
Gibson started his career on Tyneside. But the Daily Mail reports that he left for Goodison Park in a £6 million deal in 2017 after lodging a complaint concerning Peter Beardsley.

The Mail suggests that with Beardsley no longer working for Newcastle and Gibson’s Everton contract expiring in the summer, the Magpies are keen to bring the defender back.
The report notes that Gibson would be open to making a move back to St James’ Park. He is yet to make his senior debut for the Toffees.

The news has prompted a mixed reaction from the Newcastle fans on social media. There are some who question whether he would be a good addition given that Everton have let his contract run into its final year.
Others have joked about the club’s transfer policy, with the club reportedly looking to re-sign a player who left less than two years ago. But most are clearly excited about the prospect of Gibson returning.
They believe that he could be a real gem for the Magpies. And they are hoping that a deal can be done – which may not be a huge surprise following a game in which an academy graduate made himself an instant hero amongst the Toon Army.
Here is what some of the Newcastle fans make of the reports…
