Newcastle United play host to Liverpool on Wednesday evening as the busy Christmas period continues and Andy Robertson is ready for a tough test on Tyneside – but Toon fans have responded to his comments, disagreeing with the Scottish star.
Liverpool remain top of the Premier League but are not firing on all cylinders. They drew 1-1 with Sam Allardyce’s West Brom, having also drawn with Fulham earlier this month, and failing to beat Brighton in November.
Certainly, they are struggling to reach last season’s heights, but are still ahead of the likes of Leicester, Tottenham, Manchester United and Manchester City. Now, they take on a struggling Newcastle side who are in danger of a relegation scrap.
Newcastle are without a win in their last four games – being knockout of the Carabao Cup, losing Manchester City and Leeds and drawing with Fulham despite the Cottagers going down to 10 men. Robertson, though, expects a tricky test.

“We go to Newcastle and we try to bounce back. But it’s going to be another tough task. I know Steve Bruce’s teams will give absolutely everything, they always have done. I know Newcastle is never an easy place to go,” Robertson told Liverpool’s website.
Newcastle sit in 14th place and are comfortably above the relegation zone, seven points above 18th-placed Fulham to be exact. But a loss against Liverpool could see Newcastle drop towards the bottom three, with Leicester up next.
Newcastle supporters are clearly unimpressed with their side’s form at the moment, but they are also disenchanted with Bruce’s tactics – which sees the Toon endure matches with minimal possession and efforts on goal. They disagree with Robertson.
