Newcastle fans react as Jordan Lukaku linked with Toon move again

Lazio defender Jordan Lukaku is reportedly set to be offered to Newcastle United this summer as the Italian club look to tempt The Toon into selling captain Jamaal Lascelles – and Newcastle fans have reacted to the new swap deal.

Lazio were first linked with Newcastle skipper Lascelles earlier in the week by Italian outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi. It was also believed that the Serie A side want Arsenal defender Calum Chambers, valuing both at £14million.

But the latest reports coming from Italy, as per Il Messaggero, Lazio have gone a step further in their bid to sign Lascelles by including Newcastle’s January target Lukaku in a deal.

Sky Sports claimed back in January that Belgium international Lukaku did not join the Toon, after failing a medical at the final hurdle. Instead, Newcastle lured Antonio Barreca to St. James’ Park from Monaco.

Newcastle still need a left-back, with Matt Ritchie playing on the left side of defence in recent weeks. Barreca struggled to have an impact, while Paul Dummett is hardly the long-term answer.

Newcastle fans have reacted on Twitter to the news that Lukaku – who had a £19million (France Football) release clause in his January loan deal that eventually fell through – and Toon fans have ridiculed the idea.
