Newcastle United have confirmed (on the club’s official website) that youngster Joe White has signed a professional contract.
White’s impressive form for the academy teams has earned him a new contract at Newcastle. The 17-year-old has put pen to paper on his first-ever professional contract.
A midfield playmaker by trade, White will now be hoping to emulate his grandfather’s success. Peter Hampton was a professional footballer (for Leeds United, Burnley and Stoke City) and White will want to do the same.

White has made the step up from the U18 team to the U23 team this season. He has played five times for the U23 team, including a 21-minute cameo in the EFL Cup against senior side Macclesfield Town.
The teenager will now hope to gain a regular starting spot in the U23 team. He has trained with Steve Bruce’s first-team so he is on the radar.
Some Newcastle fans have been discussing White’s new contract on social media. Given his recent rapid rise to success, there are high hopes for his future. Here are some tweets about White after Newcastle announced he had signed a professional contract.
