Newcastle fans react as Danny Rose suggests he wants Leicester City move

Danny Rose has claimed he would “love” to form a reunion with Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers despite being on loan at Newcastle United from Tottenham Hotspur – and Toon fans have responded to the left-back’s comments on Twitter.

Rose, 29, is currently on loan at Newcastle and has played just six times for Steve Bruce’s side, before the global health crisis struck in March. He has no permanent clause in his Newcastle loan, though any future at Tottenham looks unlikely.

It promises to be an interesting summer ahead for the England international, then. During his early Tottenham days, Rose joined Watford on loan in the 2008-09 season who were then managed by Leicester boss Rodgers.

Rose had plenty of praise for Rodgers during an interview with the Lockdown Tactics podcast and stated that he would “love” to reunite with the Northern Irish manager – before joking Leicester would have to sell Ben Chilwell for a move to occur.

“Working with him [Rodgers] for two months was brilliant,” Rose said. “As an 18 or 19-year-old, I had never experienced training sessions like that. He is somebody I would love to play for again. Someone will have to buy Ben Chilwell first.”

Newcastle do need a left-sided defender, with Paul Dummett seemingly on the fringes and Jetro Willems on a loan-to-buy deal from Eintracht Frankfurt. A permanent deal could be in the offing for Willems, with the Dutch ace stating he wants to join.

Newcastle supporters have reacted on Twitter to the news that Rose has claimed he would like to join Leicester and Rodgers, if £75million-rated Chilwell (Telegraph) is sold. Many have urged their club to sign Chilwell, and for Rose to leave.
