Newcastle fans react as club reportedly trying to ‘catch up’ with Leeds in £18m race

Newcastle United have reportedly joined Leeds United and other sides in the race to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Michael Cuisance this summer – and Toon fans have discussed the potential arrival of the French Under-20 international.

Cuisance, 21, has been linked with Leeds for the majority of September as the Whites look to add an attacking midfielder to their side. Rodrigo De Paul, Ruslan Malinovskyi and Todd Cantwell have also been linked with the Yorkshire side.

The latest report from French newspaper L’Equipe – as per GFFN – though, claims Leeds are leading the race to sign midfielder Cuisance – who has 11 senior Bayern Munich appearances to his name and even one goal.

However, Leeds are not alone in pursuit of Cuisance. While the report states that the Whites are in advanced negotiations and hope to close a deal this week for a fee believed to be in the region of £18million, Newcastle and OGC Nice are playing catch-up.

Indeed, Patrick Vieira’s side have made contact and are trying to convince Cuisance to return to his home country while Newcastle are also said to be interested. Marseille and Andre Villas-Boas cannot afford a deal.

Newcastle supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that they are trying to play catch-up and elbow Leeds out of the way in a move to sign Cuisance – and many believe he could be a good addition for Steve Bruce’s side.
