Newcastle fans react as club reportedly table enormous Ciro Immobile offer

Newcastle United have reportedly tabled an enormous offer to sign Italian striker Ciro Immobile from second-placed Serie A side Lazio – and Toon fans have responded by licking their lips at the prospect of Immobile up front.

Immobile, 30, has been in sensational form for Lazio this season – clocking up a stunning 30 goals in 33 league and cup appearances. He has propelled Lazio to a lofty second place behind leaders and champions Juventus.

The Italy international is now said to be a target for Newcastle’s potential new owners. Gazzetta Dello Sport have claimed that Newcastle have tabled a £50million offer to sign the former Sevilla, Dortmund and Torino striker this summer.

It is an offer that Lazio are likely to consider given the current financial restraints of the global health crisis, and that Immobile is now the wrong side of 30. The report also states that Newcastle are ready to offer £14million a season, before tax.

That equates to an enormous £270,000 a week to sign Immobile, a move that would easily eclipse any of Newcastle’s current players by more than £200,000. Whether Immobile fancies a move to England remains to be seen.

Newcastle supporters have reacted to the reported news and while there is a sense of doubt given the soon-to-be owners have not been confirmed as replacing Mike Ashley yet – many have imagined Immobile in a black and white shirt.
