Newcastle fans react as club reportedly table £14.5m bid
Newcastle United have reportedly made an offer to sign Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce – and Toon fans are excited on Twitter.
Of course, Newcastle are about to complete a £300million takeover that would see Mike Ashley finally sell the club – to the delight of supporters.
The buying consortium is financially backed by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund, who will own 80%. Piracy issues have been resolved.
The Reuben Brothers and Amanda Staveley’s PCP Capital Partners will own 10% each – with Staveley expected to be a senior figure in the board room.
The interest and excitement of fans has spiked. Predicting who will be the next new signing in January, and the next manager, is the talk of the town.
A report from Turkish site A Spor might help with that. They say Newcastle have made a £14.5million offer to sign Turkey goalkeeper Bayindir.
What do Newcastle fans think about Bayindir, amid imminent takeover?
The 23-year-old is regarded as a proper talent in his homeland, with 82 appearances already under his belt at Fener – keeping 21 clean sheets.
Newcastle do already have three first-team goalkeepers in Karl Darlow, Freddie Woodman and Martin Dubravka – the latter out with an injury.
Woodman started the season, before a mistake at Manchester United saw Darlow come in. Dubravka is likely to be first choice when fit.
But having so many goalkeepers might tempt Newcastle into a signing to solve the headache – and Bayindir is a target. Toon fans are excited.
