Newcastle United have signed defender Jetro Willems from Eintracht Frankfurt on a season-long loan deal – and Newcastle fans are absolutely delighted.
The Evening Chronicle had claimed that 25-year-old left-back Willems had agreed a move to Newcastle, and was set to join the club this weekend – despite having two years left on his Frankfurt contract.
The report also claimed that Allan Saint-Maximin was to sign on the dotted line before the weekend was up, after the Toon agreed a £16.5million move with OGC Nice for the 22-year-old French ace.

Newcastle have been interested in Willems for five years according to the Chronicle report, with the 22-time Netherlands international first being added onto Lee Charnley’s radar in the summer of 2014.
Now, Newcastle have delighted fans by confirming the capture of both Saint-Maximin on a six-year deal and Willems on loan. Newcastle have the option to make the loan permanent at the end of the season.
Paul Dummett has been first-choice for a while now, but the Wales international is not considered as one that should be the long-term solution. Indeed, he is seen by Toon fans as good cover, rather than a starting eleven option.
Matt Ritchie has been playing on the left side of defence, while Javi Manquillo is capable of doing so, too. Newcastle fans have reacted to the news Willems has signed, and many are delighted.
