Newcastle United have reportedly joined Scottish champions Celtic in the race to sign Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull – and Toon supporters have reacted on Twitter to the news that Turnbull is a target.
Turnbull, 21, starred during the 2018-19 campaign – scoring 15 goals in 31 league and cup appearances as well as laying on six assists for Stephen Robinson’s side, alongside new Toon signing Mark Gillespie.
It saw Celtic almost complete a move to sign Turnbull last summer, only for a medical to flag up an impending knee injury. That injury was operated on, ruling Turnbull out of the 2019-20 season – as he played just twice.

Now fit, the Scotland Under-21 international is being linked with another move. The Daily Record claim Newcastle and Stoke have joined Celtic in the race to sign the £3million-rated box-to-box ace.
Steve Bruce could be looking to secure a similar move to the one that saw him sign John McGinn for Aston Villa from Hibernian. A similar player to McGinn, Turnbull is also being linked with a move to Parkhead.
Newcastle supporters have reacted on Twitter to reports that the club want to rival Celtic to sign Turnbull for a bargain fee of just £3million, and some believe landing the youngster could be great business.
