Newcastle United have reportedly opened talks with Italian giants Napoli over a move to sign left-back Faouzi Ghoulam this month with a potential loan deal in the offing – and Toon fans have responded on Twitter.
Ghoulam, 29, is struggling for regular game time at Napoli this season having previously starred for the Italian giants – linking him with big moves to the Premier League. This season, he has managed just four starts.
A 37-time Algeria international, Ghoulam is just five appearances shy of reaching 200 with Napoli. But the left-back is now potentially set to leave Gennaro Gattuso’s side – with Newcastle supposedly keen on experienced ace.

Algerian outlet Le Buteur say Newcastle have opened talks over a move for the defender – though Chelsea are also ‘convinced’ by the player. It is claimed that Napoli are open to seeing Ghoulam leave the club on loan this month.
Newcastle do have options on the left side of the defence, though Paul Dummett is in and out of form and Matt Ritchie is naturally a winger. Jamal Lewis has struggled since joining the club from Norwich City.
Jetro Willems is said to be available and has made numerous social media hints over a return to the club – but Ghoulam is the latest name to be linked and Toon fans have responded on Twitter to the news he could join.
Football Italia claimed in the summer that Napoli want £13.5million for his signature, should a permanent deal be included.
